The Magic of Story Sacks

It is so important to foster a love of language and learning from a young age. An amazing way to do this is using story sacks!

Pick your child’s favourite book and put a bag together with relevant objects from the book. Some examples of great books to do this with are The Gruffalo, Dear Zoo and Puffin Peter.

The Gruffalo has a host of exciting animals to learn about. Why not take your story sack to the park! You and your child can take the Gruffalo through the trees and act out the story.

Act out Dear Zoo as you read along by making the animal figures jump out of the story sack as you lift the flap! Your child could act out the animals being fierce and bouncy, helping them fully understand the words.

Puffin Peter is a personal favourite at Little Puffin HQ. We love using all our puffin toys (of which there are many) and other animals to act out the story. This is the perfect book to take to the beach to act out the whale swimming around with the puffin on his back.

There are so many wonderful books around now for our little ones to explore. Keep an eye out for the next blog: Talking Toys, where I’ll recommend some fantastic sensory toys to go with ‘That’s not my…’ books!
